Description: GITMO stone plaque in the Washington National Cathedral. Donated in 1965 by the officers and enlisted men of the United States Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, which is commonly referred to as Gitmo, in appreciation for the visit of Rev. Francis B. Sayre Jr., dean of the cathedral for 27 years, in July 1964. Sayre was the the first grandchild of President Woodrow Wilson and served as a Navy chaplain during World War II.
