Description: Gold, Quartz (Size: 47 mm x 33 mm; Weight: 38 g) Locality: Mancayan (Mankayan) mineral district, Benguet Province, Cordillera Administrative Region, Luzon, Philippines Original description: Gold in not well defined crystals, showing some plates together with filiform, dendritic and arborescent forms, on a matrix of quartz. Overall size: 47 mm x 33 mm. Weight: 38 g. This specimen was brought from Philippines by the Spanish engineer Antonio Hernández, who had worked at the Macayan copper mines in the 19th century. I keep handwritten documents from him, dated year 1853, related with the mentioned copper mining works.
