Description: Great "West" window at Shrewsbury Cathedral This window was the work of a local woman stained glass artist in the early years of the 20th century. She also made a number of other fine windows here and elsewhere http://tinyurl.com/dj972z, along with her cousin whose name was - confusingly - also Margaret Rope. An appeal was launched around the time of this photo to fund the re-leading of these precious examples of Arts and Crafts style in stained glass. (Strictly the window is south-facing. The site was too confined to allow the altar end {"the liturgical East" - what Larkin called "the holy end"} to actually face east - it is to the north. Thus the "liturgical West" is southwards.)
