Description: c/n GT207. Indian Air Force serial E1076. The HAL Ajeet was a Folland Gnat built under license in Indian by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd). There is some confusion over the true identity of this Ajeet, probably caused by the Indian Air Force using both IE1076 & E1076 as serials. These are generally believed to be two different aircraft, but may have been simply a renumbering of a single machine. If this example is actually IE1076 renumbered, then it would be c/n GT005. I have used the more commonly quoted ‘E1076’, c/n GT207. Previously painted in RAF Red Arrows colours, it is seen after being stripped for repainting. It would be nice to see it in a genuine Indian scheme, but even a Finnish scheme would be more appropriate for a single seater. March Field Museum, Riverside, CA, USA. 28-2-2016
