Description: Hamlyns's Mill, Buckfastleigh. This was taken from the car park of the newish industrial units to the north. In front are the single storey weaving sheds, a later addition to the original 4 storey woollen mill 1222374 in the centre that was originally owned by the Hamlyn family. There is a long history of tanning skins, and spinning and weaving woollen products in Buckfastleigh. The mills were originally powered by streams flowing off Dartmoor, and yarn is still produced in the town to be made into Axminster carpets. To the right can be seen a newer woollen mill 1222391 that like Hamlyn's mill is no longer working.
