Description: This alabaster /limestone head of a Sumerian woman came from Khafajah, in modern-day Dyala, Iraq, and was excavated by the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, 4th season, 19331934 CE, Early Dynastic III, c. 2400 BCE. The head does not belong to the torso of the statue. The Sulaymaniyah Museum, Iraqi Kurdistan. The head is on the list of Oriental Institute's Lost Treasures from Iraq after April 2003. However, it has been housed at the Sulaymaniyah Museum since October 1961, as a permanent loan from the Iraqi Museum.
