Description: Hematite Locality: Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Northeast Region, Brazil (Locality at mindat.org) Size: 7.2 x 6.4 x 5.8 cm. A striking cluster of parallel-growth, mirror-bright, metallic-gray hematite blades from Brazil. These relatively rare hematite "iron roses" are best-known from Brazil and the Alps. This is a thick one is and when looked at from the edge you can see that it consists of more than several dozen separate platy crystals pressed together. It is a very thick cluster, unusually so – weighing 560 grams. Ex. Wes Parker Collection. Hard to obtain old material.
