Description: Hematite Locality: Crowders Mountain Iron Prospect, Kings Mountain District, Gaston County, North Carolina, USA (Locality at mindat.org) Size: 19.7 x 14.2 x 6.2 cm. Collector Harold Urish bought this in a rock shop while traveling, in 1975. It is a very attractive, large, rolling matrix of rock coated with botryoidal hematite. Oxidation has given the hematite a varied surface color composition, and it is bright and metallic looking, making for a very dramatic display specimen. From the well-known Tucson collection of 40-year collector, Harold Urish.
