Description: Kota Bharu, Malaya. 1941. A decoy Lockheed Hudson aircraft at RAF Kota Bharu. The Hudson was non-operational and was used to lure any enemy bombers away from the real runway. Note the supports under the wings used to hold the decoy upright. The RAAF had two General Reconnaissance Squadrons flying Lockheed Hudson aircraft in Malaya. No. 1 Squadron was stationed at RAF station Kota Bharu, No. 8 Squadron was stationed at RAF station Kuantan. The Squadrons were forced to retreat, along with the allied forces, in the face of the Japanese attack. (Donor: A. Blake)
