While William Bendix played the role on radio, in films and in a later television version of the show, when the television program began, he was not able to accept the role due to other contractual obligations. Gleason had the role of Riley for only one season-from 1949 to 1950. In this photo, Peg Riley is going over a list of jobs she expects Riley to get done while she's out.
