Description: An abandoned Jain temple at Sultan Battery in ruins. The temple was captured and used by Tipu Sultan to store weapons and ammunitions as he attempted to expand a Muslim Sultanate into northern Kerala. The name of the town used to be Ganapathi Vattam, but was changed by the British to Sultan Battery because it was used to store war equipment by the Sultan for his wars. The temple has Jain carvings on pillars, has an architecture similar to regional Vijayanagara Empire era Hindu temples.

The Jainism icons and statues typically found inside the temple were thrown out to create ammunition storage space. The temple has a nearby well, from which some Jain idols have been recovered and moved into a museum.

The temple is dated to 13th or 14th century CE. It is about 100 kilometers from Kozhikode (Calicut).
