Description: State Funeral for Marshal-admiral Isoroku Yamamoto of the Imperial Japanese Navy on Saturday, 5 June 1943. Yamamoto's ashes were placed alongside Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō (hero of the Russo-Japanese war in 1904–1905) in the village cemetery at Tama, near Tokyo, facing the Imperial Palace. At the time they were the only two naval men, exclusive of Imperial princes, honoured by state funerals. (source: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/92625991)
