Description: This is the northerly of two golden bears at the southern approach to the U.S. 101 bridge over the Klamath River. The concrete bears formerly watched over the old bridge on the river until the Flood of 1964 when they were moved to the current location. Caltrans maintains a local tradition by keeping the bears painted gold.
