Description: The Delaware & Hudson Canal Company's building is an immense and imposing fire-proof structure, generally known as the Coal and Iron Exchange. It is on Cortlandt Street, at the southeast corner of Church Street. It is not an "Exchange" building, excepting in name; but it is the property of the Delaware & Hudson Canal Company, for whom it was built in 1874-76, and whose main offices are located therein.
