Description: Laetiporus cincinnatus ((Morgan) Burdsall, Banik, & Volk) Location: Strouds Run State Park, Athens, Ohio, USA Notes: I did not get a shot, but the pores were whitish rather than yellow. Laetiporus cincinnatus is the correct name according to Tom Volk’s web site. http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/jul2001.html However, Lincoff calls it Laetiporus sulphureus var. semialbinus in the National Audubon field guide. Laetiporus cincinnatus and Laetiporus sulphureus var. semialbinus are synonyms.
