The school was built in 1937, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Portions of the exterior are ornamented with terracotta, and feature Mayan-inspired motifs such as an amber sunburst frieze and stylized human faces. Architects: Marion M. Steen (1886–1966), Edward J. Weber (1877–1968), Navarro Corp. Architectural style: Art Deco.
