Description: This is the gate to the Military Corrective Training Centre at Berechurch Camp in Colchester, Essex. The inmates are referred to as Servicemen Under Sentence, not prisoners. The MOD maintains this is not actually a prison as in civilian life many of the misdemeanours that send people here would not attract a custodial sentence. A good proportion of the alumni of this training centre are discharged back to their units and have creditable careers in the services.
