Nowell, Nome, 5765 Solomon is located on the west bank of the Solomon River, 1 miles north of Norton Sound and 30 miles east of Nome, Seward Peninsula. It was established as a mining camp in the summer of 1900 at the height of the Nome gold rush. In 1958 the population was 12.
