Description: The Mammoth Site at Hot Springs, South Dakota is a paleontological site where mammoths and other megafauna got trapped in a sinkhole and drown about 26,000 years ago. Their bones were buried and preserved. The male specimen seen here is nicknamed "Murray". Today a museum has covered the site with a roof and gives tours.
