Description: A final evening sunbeam illuminated these in a striking way. Recent genetic evidence has demonstrated that certain members of the Saxifragaceae family that have traditionally been categorized as members of the Saxifraga genus, including Saxifraga virginiensis, should be divided out into their own genus, Micranthes. The new name has not caught on widely yet, but the reasons for the change seem relatively uncontroversial.
