Description: A group of Native Americans and settlers pose on a beach in Mukilteo, Washington. The Native Americans, mostly women and children, sit in their beached canoes or huddle together on the beach. The settlers, along with a pair of yoked oxen, stand on the beach facing the photographer. At the time this photograph was taken, Mukilteo was the temporary seat of Snohomish County, pending an election in 1862. This image is on page 75 of William Whitfield's History of Snohomish County, published in 1926.
