Image: Nauvoo House and Bidaman Stable - Nauvoo, Illinois - 24 September 2019
Description: A view of the Nauvoo House and Bidaman Stable in Nauvoo, Illinois. Meant to be a boarding house, construction started on the Nauvoo House in the early 1840s. The structure was never completed as intended, and decades later Emma Hale (wife of the late Joseph Smith Jr.) and her husband Lewis Bidamon converted it to a smaller structure known as the Riverside Mansion. At the time of this photograph, the building was owned by the Community of Christ and was used as a hostel for visiting church and family groups.
