Description: Atlas of Mars by Belgian Astronomer Louis Niesten. The map is meant to be folded around a sphere thus constructing a small globe of Mars. Dimensions are 22cm x 10cm. The Cartouche reads: GLOBE DE MARS / dressé / PAR L. NIESTEN / d’après les observations faites / À BRUXELLES & À MILAN / NOMENCLATURE SCHIAPARELLI / NOMENCLATURE GREEN / J. Lebèque & C.° Bruxelles. Niesten made the Atlas according to observations done in Brussels and Milan, following Schiaparelli's and Green's nomenclature. Published by J. Lebèque & Co, Brusells. South is up.
