This was the site of the Battle of Chantilly (known by the Confederacy as the Battle of Ox Hill) during the Civil War on September 1, 1862. The monuments are to Union generals Isaac Stevens (left) and Philip Kearny (right), who were both killed during the battle. They are not gravestones, and were erected in 1915.
