Description: A Lockheed P-3W Orion aircraft of No 11 Squadron, No 92 Wing, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), flying over Butterworth, Malaysia on 1 Jul 1990. This P-3C was delivered to the RAAF on 30 Apr 1986, Lockheed construction number 5793, U.S. Navy Bureau Number 162664, RAAF serial A9-664. the P-3W was a P-3C Update II.5 and the RAAF used this designation to distinguish between the 10 originally bought P-3Cs and the second Update II.5-batch. Starting in 2002 all of Australia's P-3C/W were modified to the "AP-3C" (Australian P-3C) standard. The Orion is the workhorse of No 92 Wing, located at RAAF Base Edinburgh, near Adelaide, who are responsible for conducting long-range surveillance missions within Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone and throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
