Description: In the picture, a non-newtonian fluid dripping down a flat surface is shown. In non-newtonian fluids, viscosity varies with the stress. This means that the fluid behaves differently in case it is under low stress conditions or high stress conditions. In the picture, a flat surface covered with non-newtonian fluid is oriented vertically, and it is possible to see that the fluid starts dripping down the surface (before taking the picture the flat surface was horizontal, placed on a table). When the surface is vertical the non-newtonian fluid is subjected to the stress due to the gravitational acceleration. Therefore, instead of slipping along the surface, it forms very large drop, that are very dense and almost solid. This creates the great effect that can be seen in the figure.
