Description: Phylogenetic tree of seven dog breeds (Canis lupus familiaris) rooted to Wolf (Canis lupus). Interestingly, it can be noted that as expected the German Shepherd results close to the wolf, but the Pug is relatively far away from the French Bulldog although apparently they look very much alike: the Pug is more close to the Pomeranian. Data Single Nucleotide Polymorphism sequences from The NHGRI Dog Genome Project at https://research.nhgri.nih.gov/dog_genome/ Filter The sequences of seven dog breeds (German Shepherd, Standard Schnauzer, Pug, Pomeranian, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bulldog, French Bulldog) were selected together with those of Wolf. Analysis The software RAxML 8 (Randomized Axelerated Maximum Likelihood) was used for phylogenetic analysis of the dataset under maximum likelihood (https://dx.doi.org/10.1093/bioinformatics/btu033).
