Description: Pike Hill Tower on Hadrian's Wall. The tower is about 200m east of 1337390. The tower was just over 6m square and, uniquely on the Wall, stood on a platform of mortared rubble with substantial foundations. The masonry of the tower was dressed to a higher standard than the turrets of the Wall. The tower lies at 45° to the Wall; the ditch to the north follows the line of the Wall and the tower in the same zig-zag pattern. {Source: "Handbook to the Roman Wall" (14th Edition) by J Collingwood Bruce.
