Description: Close-up of imprinted bricks in Pioneer Courthouse Square (Portland, Oregon). This photo shows bricks in the main plaza, which were all purchased by citizen donors in 1981–83 (mostly in 1981) under the campaign that raised funds for the square's original construction (as opposed to later renovations). More than 50,000 bricks were purchased during that period. The square opened in 1984.
