Description: A collection of old machines / engines on Level 0 of Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum. The area called "Power Up" These were previously on display at the old Science Museum on Newhall Street (until 1997). This is the sewage pumping engine. Made by Messrs James Watt and Co, Soho, Birmingham between 1883 and 1884. It raised sewage from the drains so that it could be discharged when the tide would carry it out to sea. Used by the Corporation of Kingston-Upon-Hull from 1884 to 1957.
