Description: Diagram of Mk III shrapnel shell for British RML 16 pounder field gun. Contained lead-antimony balls : 28 balls of 18 / lb (25.2 grams) and 56 balls of 84 / lb (5.4 grams). Contained 1½ oz gunpowder charge in base to blow bullets out of shell. Weight of shell filled but not fuzed : 17 lb 14½ oz (8.124 kg).
