Description: The beautiful but deserted Rockaway Community Park (formerly Edgemere Park), on Almeda Avenue across from the Edgemere Houses in Edgemere, Queens. The park is plagued by an abundance of mosquitoes, due to its location on Jamaica Bay. In fact, a plague is the best way to describe the immediate attack of mosquitoes upon entrance into the park. Looking east.
