Description: Rufous Marsh Glider (Rhodothemis rufa), male Rhodothemis rufa, Rufous Marsh Glider, is a large red dragonfly with transparent wings. Both Rhodothemis rufa and Crocothemis servilia have red eyes but R. rufa lacks the black strip on the dorsal of abdomen. Further, they prefer to perch on leaves with wings wide open, hanging vertically; rarely perch straight on a bare twig. Although it is difficult to distinguish the males from other red dragonflies, the females can be easily distinguishable by their mid-dorsal yellow stripe. This yellowish streak runs from occipital triangle through pro-thorax down to abdomen segment 6. They have a unique yellow strip on the upper frons too. Taken at Kadavoor, Kerala, India.
