Description: Stylized lion, detail of entrance, Grand Central Hotel (a name from the Klondike Gold Rush era), also known as Squire Latimer Building / Squire Latimer Block / Grand Central on the Park (official name today; the area behind the building is now part of Occidental Park), 216 First Avenue South, Pioneer Square neighborhood, Seattle, Washington, USA. Built 1890. I'm not sure whether this is terracotta or carved stone; it's painted over, so it is hard to tell. For more information about the building see Summary for 216 1st AVE / Parcel ID 5247800390, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, which mentions in particular "This building was also one of the earliest and famous examples of rehabilitation in the district in 1971-1972." This is the same building, despite their having accidentally omitted "South" from the address.
