Description: Sif (the title given to the work in the list of illustrations on page vii). The subheading of the work on the page it is one labels it "Sif and Thor". If not for that one would assume that the figure in the background is Loki, approaching to cut Sif's hair off. Perhaps that was the artist's intention and the label is a mistake. There is a 1995 color illustration by Nick Beale, clearly based on this one.
