The photograph was taken from the road bridge that connects Westwood with Belgrave Terrace. The small group of people on the left is at the end of the redundant Platform 1a, which used to be the depart/arrival platform for the Whitby trains. The approaching locomotive is Mallard, which was pulling a 'special' train from York.
