Description: The spinney, a preserved garden, off Poultney Road, Coventry, England. The house in the background, 2 Poultney Road, was the first home of Philip Larkin (1922-1985), the English poet. His family lived in the house, at the time a council house, from 1919 until 1925. The area was known as Radford Garden Village. Sydney and Eva Larkin, together with Philip's older sister, Kitty, were the house's first occupants. Sydney worked at the time for the local council. See [1] and Andrew Motion's Philip Larkin: A Writer's Life, p. 30.
