Description: St Andrew's Church: Castle Combe. Apparently the earliest reference to this church is found in a document dating 1291. Construction of the tower started in 1435, funded by the wealthy businesses in the village at that time. There are several interesting features in the church itself, such as a faceless clock. This clock was installed before 1500 and is one of the earliest working clocks. Men in the fields only needed to know the hour, so it only struck on one bell.
