Description: People's Palace after extensions were added, Ann Street, Brisbane, ca. 1913. The People's Palace was built on the corner of Ann and Edward Streets by the Salvation Army in 1910-1911. It was a temperance hotel built near the Central Railway Station in Brisbane. The rules were strictly no alcohol or gambling. It existed to provide affordable accommodation for working class people. In 1913 two more storeys were added to the original three storey building.
