Description: Students and teachers gathered outside Amiens State School, 1922 The Amiens State School was the first official building to be erected in Amiens. It was built in 1920. The first school in Amiens was the Pikedale Soldier Settlement Provisional School which opened pn 10 March 1919 in temporary accommodation. School was carried on in the temporary building until the erection of the first section of the building pictured. The building was completed ready for the school year in 1920. The original name of this school was Amiens Soldiers Settlement School early in 1920. In November 1920 it became officially known as Amiens State School. (Description supplied with photograph).
