Description: Steins Pillar near Prineville in the U.S. state of Oregon. The pillar, in the Ochoco Mountains, is an eroded remnant of volcanic ash flows that hardened into rock. According to the fifth edition of Geology of Oregon (1999) by Elizabeth L. Orr and William N. Orr, p. 42, the pillar is 350 feet (110 m) high and 120 feet (37 m) in diameter.
