Description: Memorial cairn for the surveyor Robert Dixon and the Normanby Plains trigonometrical baseline of 3 miles he supervised in 1839 which formed part of the first accurate survey and map of the Moreton Bay region. The monument is located just west of the town of Harrisville, Queensland on Warrill View-Peak Crossing Rd, near to the where the baseline passed. Inscription THE INSTITUTION OF SURVEYORS, AUSTRALIA QUEENSLAND DIVISION BICENTENNIAL PROJECT "IN THE STEPS OF OUR FOREFATHERS" IN HONOUR OF SURVEYOR ROBERT DIXON IN OCTOBER 1839, SURVEYOR ROBERT DIXON ESTABLISHED THE NORMANBY PLAINS TRIGONOMETRICAL BASELINE THREE MILES LONG APPROXIMATELY THROUGH THIS POINT. THIS STARTED THE FIRST ACCURATE MAPPING OF QUEENSLAND. It was erected in 1988 by the Isa Town Group and Moreton Shire Bicentennial Community Group.
