Description: The Divide Cut on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, under construction in the early 1980s. This 39-mile (63 km) cut opened a navigation channel between the Tennessee River system and the Tombigbee River system and provided a waterborne freight channel between the Tennessee River and the Gulf of Mexico. The channel was opened in 1985.
