Description: This Envisat image, acquired on 28 September 2008, features the confluence of the Amazon Basin's main ‘black’ and ‘white’ rivers – the Rio Negro (visible flowing east-southeast) and the Solimões (seen flowing along the bottom of the image) respectively – forming the Amazon River just below Manaus, visible in white north of the confluence of the rivers.
