Description: The Convent Viewed from the forest track shortly after this building was painstakingly restored from near-dereliction in the early 1980s. Built by Henry Hoare II in around 1765, the Convent was mostly used by shooting parties, gamekeepers and estate labourers; it was never a convent. It is now difficult to photograph this building in the context of its surroundings because the slope in the foreground is completely overgrown with tall laurel bushes. http://www.alfredstower.info/Convent.aspx
