Description: The church and churchyard of St Mary The Virgin, Walthamstow This is almost certainly the oldest building in Walthamstow. Parts of the church date from the 13th C, although it was partly rebuilt in the 16th C and extensively altered, restored and enlarged in the 18th C. It is constructed of stone, flint and red brick, but the exterior is finished in a cement rendering (dating from immediately after WWII). {Source: plaque in churchyard.
