Description: The city walls over the railway The uncomfortable junction of the two walls on the right, and the angled line across the walkway, indicates where the city walls were breached, as approved by the Chester and Holyhead Railway Act 1844, to make way for the North Wales railway line. Supported on iron girders the sandstone walls were rebuilt to preserve the continuity of the walls. In the distance is Bonewaldesthorne's Tower where the walls turn to the south.
