Description: Thrissops cf. formosus, Ichthyodectidae; Upper Jurassic, Tithonium, Ettling, Bavaria, Germany; Jura-Museum Eichstätt, Germany (48°53′38.36″N 11°10′14.45″E / 48.8939889°N 11.1706806°E / 48.8939889; 11.1706806). The scales show the original colour pattern, induced by melanin. In addition, one can see muscles and parts of the gastrointestinal tract. This is one of the best conserved fossil fishes worldwide.
