Description: Trainspotters and BRUTEs at Piccadilly Apart from the Class 90 loco in the background (which has been superseded on London services by Pendolino tilting trains), two aspects of this scene date the photo: One is the trainspotters, who seem to be a dying breed. The other is the large blue and red parcels trolleys, known as BRUTEs (British Railways Universal Trolleying Equipment). They could be found at all but the smallest stations up to the 1990s, sometimes drawn by tractors in long 'trains' themselves, but have now disappeared.
