Description: Calcium carbonate chemically precipitated out as Travertine from the waters of Hot Springs of Bridgeport California. Precipitation occurs, when environmental conditions of the water change (temperature, pressure, etc. Ex.: emerging from underground) and cause the water to release (part of) its Carbon dioxide as gas. Waterquantity and sediments in this case were large. Biotic material may increase the precipitation by photosynthesis (in this case negligible).
